Thank you for participating in the Review of the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programme Requirements survey.

Please read either the full discussion document or the summary discussion document before submitting this survey. They provide important context for the questions.

Context for this survey
The Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programme Requirements are being reviewed following the introduction of the 2026 Standards for the Teaching Profession and the transfer of responsibility for the requirements from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand to the Ministry of Education.

The review is an opportunity to consider whether the current ITE Programme Requirements remain fit for purpose and continue to support high-quality teacher preparation.

Why are we running this survey?
We are seeking views on how well the current approach to ITE is working and whether changes are needed to create a clearer and more consistent foundation for teacher preparation across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required. All other questions are optional. The survey is anonymous unless you choose to provide personal information in your responses.

Your responses are saved automatically as you progress through the survey, so you can move back and forth between sections without losing your answers.
