The New Zealand Education Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding performance in primary and secondary schooling.

The nomination period opens on Monday 16 March and closes on Friday 10 April

Schools and kura can be nominated and apply for each category once. We will notify nominated schools and kura with information on how to accept the nomination and apply.

Entries will only be judged on achievements, performance and results that can be evidenced over a sustained period between 1 January 2024 – 1 May 2026.

Before you begin: 

This form is to be completed to nominate a school or kura for a New Zealand Education Excellence Award.

Nominations for the New Zealand Education Excellence Awards can be made by anyone, whānau, community members, and school staff. A School or Kura may nominate themselves.

The Ministry will use the information collected through this nomination form to administer the New Zealand Education Excellence Awards and to:
  • confirm your nominee’s eligibility for the award
  • contact you if we need any clarification about your nomination
  • issue an application form to your nominated school/kura
  • include within Ministry of Education (or Ministry of Education-supported) promotional material or media related to the New Zealand Education Excellence Awards. Please do not include confidential or commercially sensitive information in your nomination.
All information is held by the Ministry and handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
